Labret Piercing FAQs
In Washington State, you must be over 18 to get a labret piercing on your own. At our U District studio, we can pierce minors as young as 16 who are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, after a consultation.
Because we use a longer-than-normal stud during the initial piercing process, you must come back in within 2-4 weeks to downsize your piercing.
Your labret piercing will take six months or more to heal, depending on aftercare, lifestyle, and your body. We suggest potentially downsizing your piercing about 2-4 weeks after your initial appointment, and waiting six months, or until your piercing is fully healed, before considering switching to a ring.
Labret piercings typically don’t have any major risks. It is important to downsize on time, follow the aftercare instructions closely, and try not to touch the area. Going to a licensed, experienced piercer is the best way to avoid piercing complications. If you notice anything out of the ordinary or concerning, reach out to your piercer or a healthcare professional.
